Palpeshwar Caves 2023

We the Trekking Paltan Group members visited on April 30th 2023.

Lohare Palpeshwar Caves are offbeat destination near to Wai. There are 4-5 caves with some sculptures.  It looks the blend of Hindu and Buddhist caves. The trek is simple. we need 20 to 30 min to reach the caves with clear trail. 30-40 mins are enough to see the caves. The place is lonely. So visit on the weekends. Carry the Food and water with you.

It is about 80 km from Pune city and 10 km from Wai. There are two ways to reach Lohare base village. one from Pune Satara Highway via Khambataki Ghat - Surur -Wai and other way via Bhor -Mandhardevi Ghat - Pandavgad base to Lohare Village.

If possible park your vehicle in the village. We took our cars here and faced a lot of difficulty in turning the cars. It is a bullock-kart road from the village to the base of the trek.

Caves are connected and they are in the same ridge
Panchagni -Wai- Pandavgad from the caves

Mangarulgad Trek 2021

We the Trekking Paltan Pune members visited the fort on 31st Jan 2021
Mangrulgad fort is a small fort near Talgaon MIDC. It is about 50 km from Pune. The fort is not well known. From Talgaon MIDC take left turn on Ambi-Ambale road and stop at Golewadi stop. There is a worker's colony on the right side of the road. Go there and park your vehicle around. The fort is visible from the road.
The parking is free in an open space.
The parking area is full of plastic litter
The trek is small and simple. 20-30 mins are sufficient to reach on the top. The hike is quite exhausting. The trail is very clear. There are steps initially.
Once you reach the top, you can see a water tank there
There is a spectacular view from right side Baston like structure
There are a few structures on the left side.
We found a lot of plastic waste on the fort. So myself and my co-trekker Dnyaneshwar Aarne collected the plastic.
